What is your favorite Professional Football Team?
I live in NC so mine is the Carolina Panthers.
Washington 17, Carolina 13
LANDOVER, Md. (AP) -- Seeking his first win as an NFL starting quarterback, Jason Campbell faced a vital third down with his team trailing late in the fourth quarter. Through his helmet transmitter, he heard his position coach call the formation. Then silence. The transmitter went dead. Campbell had to call the play himself, based on the players sent onto the field. "We could tell that there was something wrong," right tackle Jon Jansen said. "But he picked up and just took us out there and we ran the play, and it was big." The play went for 66 yards and a touchdown. Tight end Chris Cooley caught the pass over the middle near midfield, escaped two tacklers and ran down the sideline for the winning score in the Washington Redskins' 17-13 victory over the Carolina Panthers on Sunday. "I didn't hear the play that was called," Campbell said. "I just tried to call one of the plays that we worked on all week that would give us an opportunity to make a first down. Fortunately, God was with me when I made that call, and Cooley did a great job of running after the catch." The victory broke a two-game losing streak for the Redskins (4-7) and made...
Foster, Vincent inactive
Carolina Panthers running back DeShaun Foster was inactive for Sunday's game against the Washington Redskins with a hyperextended left elbow. Foster was injured during last week's victory over the St. Louis Rams and didn't practice Wednesday or Thursday. Redskins safety Troy Vincent, who took over the starting job from Adam Archuleta three weeks ago, was inactive due to a strained hamstring. Wide receiver Santana Moss, who missed two of the last three games with a hamstring injury, was in the lineup.
Bears can clinch division title in Week 12
BRISTOL, Connecticut (Ticker) - The Chicago Bears can clinch their second straight division title on Sunday. Tom Brady and the New England Patriots know all about winning divisions. The interconference battle between the Bears (9-1) and Patriots (7-3) is the marquee matchup of Week 12 in the NFL. The Sunday night meeting between the Indianapolis Colts (9-1) and Philadelphia Eagles (5-5) was supposed to be another intriguing interconference game featuring quarterbacks Peyton Manning and Donovan McNabb. But the contest lost much of its luster when McNabb suffered a season-ending knee injury last week. The Bears can become only the fourth team since the advent of the 16-game schedule in 1978 to clinch a division title by its 11th game. The other three are the 1985 Bears, the 1997 San Francisco 49ers and 2004 Eagles. Chicago can seal the NFC North crown with a win at New England, coupled with losses by the Minnesota Vikings (4-6) and Green Bay Packers (4-6). The Vikings host former coach Dennis Green and the Arizona Cardinals (2-8) on Sunday and the Packers visit the first-place Seattle Seahawks (6-4) on Monday night. But beating the Pats will be...
Carolina at Washington
Game Info: 1:00 pm EST Sun Nov 26, 2006TV: FOX Buy Tickets The Carolina Panthers defense is rounding into dominant form as it heads into a matchup against a Washington Redskins team that's missing its starting quarterback, running back and top receiver. The Panthers (6-4) look to maintain at least a share of their NFC South lead when they visit the struggling Washington Redskins (3-7) on Sunday. Carolina used a dominant defensive performance in last week's 15-0 victory over St. Louis to move into a first-place tie with New Orleans. The Panthers came up with a season-high seven sacks and limited the Rams to 111 total yards -- a season low for a Carolina opponent. "It was probably as good of team defense as I've seen so far this season and it was definitely our best tackling game," Carolina coach John Fox said. Defensive tackle Mike Rucker had two sacks for Carolina, which dominated despite not getting a sack from linebacker Julius Peppers, the NFL leader with 11. "We're starting to feel each other," safety Mike Minter said. "With so many new guys coming in there, they didn't understand what it takes to play on this Carolina...
New Orleans at Atlanta
New Orleans at Atlanta Game Info: 1:00 pm EST Sun Nov 26, 2006TV: FOX Buy Tickets Live Injury Updates: Watch Fantasy Football Live Former New Orleans Saints coach Jim Mora doesn't believe Michael Vick can be a consistent passer in the NFL. His son hopes he's wrong. Vick and coach Jim Mora Jr.'s struggling Atlanta Falcons try to regain their footing in the NFC playoff race when they take on the Saints on Sunday at the Georgia Dome. The quarterback has struggled during Atlanta's three straight losses, completing less than 50 percent of his throws (44 of 93) with four interceptions and only three touchdowns. With Vick under center, Atlanta (5-5) has been held under 20 points the last three weeks, leading to the controversy with his coach's father. This week, the elder Mora, who coached the Saints (6-4) from 1986-96, agreed with the host of a radio show that Vick was a "coach killer." "It worries me a little bit because my son is the head coach down there," Mora added. "But he's a great athlete, my son likes him a lot, he's a good kid. But he's not a passer. And you need a passer at quarterback to be successful consistently in...
